Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg confirmed this news through his Threads account. In addition, he stated that the company is currently conducting a small test of trending topics of the day in the United States. The plan is to roll out the feature to other countries and languages.
Today’s Topics Feature of Threads
Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri also confirmed the rollout of the “Today’s topics” feature. In addition, it will be accessible on the search page and the user’s For You feed. Mosseri provided an update on the new feature. He explained that the company’s AI systems, based on the current engagement of users on Threads, will select the trending topics. He emphasized that the topics will accurately represent what is currently topical on Threads. Additionally, political trends will be eligible for inclusion in the trending topics.
Determining Trending Topics
Meta has stated that the machine learning algorithm will determine the “Today’s Topics” section in Threads. This algorithm takes into consideration various factors. In addition, it includes the number of users discussing a particular topic and the level of interaction with posts related to that topic. By analyzing these factors, the algorithm identifies the most relevant and popular topics to feature as trending on Threads.
