Podcasts are now officially available on YouTube Music’s American platform for Android, iOS, and the web. The launch comes after YouTube’s head of podcasting, Kai Chu, announces that podcasts will soon be available to YouTube Music.
With the change, users can continue to listen to podcasts they are currently watching in the main app on YouTube Music.
About the New Podcasts Update
The YouTube Music Home tab gets a new “Podcasts” button. Clicking on it will lead users to a special feed that features their favorite podcasts and suggested episodes.
According to the firm, all users may smoothly switch between audio-video versions of podcasts on YouTube Music. In addition, they can listen to them on-demand, offline, in the background, and while casting.
“This podcast listening experience is different from our music listening experience where users need a Premium or Music Premium subscription to enjoy some of these features,” the firm stated in a blog post. This new podcast listening experience enhances the YouTube podcast video experience.
Users who don’t have a YouTube Premium subscription can also access podcasts on YouTube Music.
Even YouTube warns that paying users who listen to podcasts on YouTube Music may hear host-read endorsements or sponsored material.
Not everyone may have yet seen the update because YouTube is gradually distributing it to all its listeners in the United States.
The business announced it will soon make podcasts available to YouTube Music subscribers outside the US. However, it made no mention of a precise launch date.
Closing Note
YouTube is urging producers to think about sharing a video with a static image, using audiograms, or using alternative dynamic video formats if their podcast is audio-only.
