WhatsApp, owned by Meta, is introducing a fresh feature on iOS and Android devices. In addition, it will enable users to pin individual or group chat messages. This new capability allows users to save time by accessing important messages.
About the Pinned Message Feature of WhatsApp
WhatsApp differs from other messaging apps as pinned messages can only remain pinned for a maximum of 30 days. However, the update comes with the default option being 7 days and the minimum duration being 24 hours.
How will the pin feature work?
To pin a message, users can access the menu, select ‘Pin,’ and choose the duration. On iOS, users can swipe right. However, on Android, they can long-press the desired chat.
Group admins have the authority to determine whether only admins or all members can pin messages. It remains uncertain whether this feature will extend to WhatsApp Channels. Competitors like iMessage and Telegram already offer similar pinning capabilities for individual and group chats.
