Intel Rolls Out a New GenAI Software Company

Intel is spinning out a new platform company called Articul8 AI with the backing of asset manager and investor DigitalBridge. The new entity builds off a proof-of-concept from an Intel collaboration with Boston Consulting Group (BCG). In addition, it focuses on AI-powered enterprise software. 

About Articul8 AI of Intel

The system took two years to develop within Intel. Additionally, it is a generative AI system that can read text and images. Further, it optimizes the high levels of security and specialized domain knowledge. The platform, called Articul8, offers AI capabilities that keep customer data, training, and inference within the enterprise security perimeter. As a result, it provides customers with the choice of cloud, on-premises, or hybrid deployment.

Arun Subramaniyan, formerly a VP and GM at Intel’s data center and AI group, will become the CEO of the spinout company. The rest of the Articul8 team will also comprise ex-Intel employees. In addition, Intel will retain an undisclosed stake in the firm. Other investors in Articul8 include Fin Capital, Mindset Ventures, Communitas Capital, GiantLeap Capital, GS Futures, and Zain Group.

Features and Specifications

Intel’s move to launch Articul8 is part of its strategy to seek outside capital for business units. The chipmaker has previously spun out car chip firm Mobileye. In addition, it sold off its memory chip division. Additionally, it intends to have an eventual initial public offering of its programmable chip unit.

The purpose of these spinouts is to raise capital for the comeback plan of CEO Pat Gelsinger. As a result, it involves building new chip factories and introducing new advanced chip manufacturing nodes within the next four years. Articul8 aligns with Gelsinger’s plans to deliver new software products and services. In addition, it includes GenAI-powered products to compete with rivals like Nvidia and AMD.
