Instagram Users Can Now Download Public Reels

Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, announced that the app now allows users worldwide to download public Reels to their devices. Previously, users could only save Reels within the Instagram app for later viewing.

About the Instagram New Feature

Mosseri shared this news on his Instagram broadcast channel. In addition, he mentioned that downloaded Reels will feature an Instagram watermark with the account name, similar to TikTok’s watermark.

How can users download the reel?

In order to save a reel, users can tap on the share button and choose the download option. However, account owners have the option to disable downloading for their Reels. Users can do this by going to Settings > Privacy > Reels and Remix and toggling off the “Allow people to download your Reels” option.

It’s important to note that if a downloaded Reel includes a licensed audio clip, the downloaded video will not have any audio. Only Reels with original audio tracks will retain the sound in the downloaded clip.

Closing Note

Instagram initially introduced Reels download for users in the United States in June. In addition, it is now expanding this feature to users worldwide.
