In order to create a collection using recycled polycotton mixed textiles, Inditex’s Zara has announced a new collaboration with the textile waste recycling business Circ.
About the New Collection
According to a press statement, the womenswear capsule collection includes a number of lyocell and polyester clothes.
In addition, created with 50 and 43 percent recycled polycotton textile waste, respectively. Additionally, it is available in 11 regions.
Circ’s technology is marketed as “the only platform to successfully separate polycotton blended textile waste” and recover cellulosic and synthetic fibers.
In addition, blends of polyester and cotton are transformed into fresh recycled raw materials for the material itself.
What will the partnership with Zara bring?
Peter Majeranowski, CEO of Circ, commented on the collection and expressed his belief that the collaboration with Zara represented “a seismic shift in how the fashion industry and consumers view what is possible in sustainability.”
“We are making significant strides towards making circularity the new standard,” he stated.
This is the first time recycled polyester and lyocell clothing made from polycotton textile waste are in the hands of consumers.
Closing Note
Circ and Zara envision a new world in which the clothing we keep in our closets is produced from recycled materials that can recycle repeatedly.
