On May 8, the German e-retailer Zalando will unveil a comprehensive footwear collection with seven designers to satisfy the needs of all shoe lovers.
About the Footwear Collection of Zalando
Zalando stated in a statement that it has collaborated with designers. In addition, they include Filling Pieces, Rejina Pyo, Holzweiler, MISBHV, Elleme, GCDS, and Ekchaus Latta.
In addition, they will develop a 14-piece size-inclusive footwear collection. The collection will feature shoes in sizes 35 to 46 in various shoe styles, including loafers, boots, heels, and clogs.
For smaller designer brands, providing size-inclusive footwear might be “challenging,” according to Zalando.
This is because of the costs involved in creating new shoe molds outside of the standard size range of 36 to 41 for women’s shoes.
For this partnership, Zalando has provided financial help to each designer company for the purchase of shoe molds. Thus, enabling them to develop extra sizes to supplement their current product lines.
The first step toward inclusivity, according to Lena-Sophie Röper, director of designer and luxury at Zalando, is to put yourself in another person’s shoes.
The inclusive footwear line and the appropriately named ‘Walk a Mile’ campaign that goes along with it serves as a symbol of our commitment to achieving that goal.
The collection represents another development in our quest to become a truly inclusive location.
Without the cooperation of the seven designer brands, who have been amazing to work with to realize this vision, this collection wouldn’t be feasible.
This kind of collaboration is crucial throughout the industry. In addition, we hope that this is only the first of many collections of this kind that we will collaborate on to promote accessibility to fashion.
Closing Note
The size-inclusive footwear collection will be available in all 25 European markets where Zalando operates. This includes the UK, Ireland, France, and Germany.
