European fashion e-tailer Zalando, based in Germany, introduced a virtual fashion assistant utilizing OpenAI technology. In addition, it aims to improve the online fashion buying experience.
In order to help customers browse through its “large assortment in a more intuitive way,” Zalando said in a statement that it would debut the first beta version of its virtual fashion assistant powered by ChatGPT across its website and apps this spring.
How will the app of Zalando work?
The chatbot, which makes use of OpenAI technology, will let users ask inquiries using their own fashion-related keywords and words. In addition, it will respond with pertinent answers in an “intuitive and natural” manner.
If a buyer inquires, “What should I wear for a wedding in Santorini in July?” Zalando says. The fashion assistant will be aware that this is a formal event and that Santorini experiences summer weather. Thus, she will make outfit suggestions based on that knowledge.
In the future, this might be paired with consumer preferences, such as the brands they choose and the products that come in their sizes. In addition, it will offer a more specialized selection of goods, according to Zalando.
A limited number of customers in the UK, Ireland, Germany, and Austria will have access to the virtual fashion assistant. Additionally, it will provide support in both English and German.
