YouTube Unveils a New Feature

YouTube

Google’s YouTube is adding new capabilities to its Shorts platform, which competes with TikTok. YouTube is experimenting with live video previews in a user’s Shorts feed.

About the New Feature of YouTube

Viewers may now click on the preview to watch the live stream. In addition, they can browse other live videos within the feed due to the new feature. Additionally, this shift includes elements for monetizing creators, such as paid memberships and chat.

YouTube

YouTube wants to enable creators to reach a larger audience with their Shorts content. Thus, it is giving live videos more prominence within the app. This approach fits well with TikTok’s focus on leveraging live videos to promote products, target particular demographics, and stage entertaining virtual events.

Over the coming months, YouTube intends to progressively roll out full-screen live videos.

How will the feature work?

The business is also launching new tools for producing YouTube Shorts films. According to reports, the platform is testing capabilities that let users make horizontal YouTube snippets into short-form videos. In addition, it will allow scaling and cropping of the original video.

YouTube

A new suggestion feature that automatically pulls the audio clip and effect used in a video they want to duplicate would be helpful to shorts creators. This functionality is similar to TikTok and Meta’s Reels. The audio from the same time stamp as the copied clip appears in YouTube’s version.

Other Features

Similar to TikTok’s Duet function, YouTube is now introducing the Collab feature. In addition, it allows users to shoot a video alongside another clip. Collab will provide a variety of layouts and be compatible with both Shorts and standard YouTube videos.

YouTube

These initiatives are a part of YouTube’s continuous fight against TikTok’s hegemony in the short-form video market. YouTube recently decreased its eligibility standards for revenue in an effort to draw more creators. Thus, it will make some elements of the YouTube Partner Program available to smaller creators.
