YouTube is testing a new screen lock feature. Thus, users may now disable touch controls while watching a video on YouTube. As a result, it can halt the Playback. In addition, it will avoid accidental screen taps. The platform’s management published a notice about the function’s debut under the YouTube Experiments section.
How will the new feature of Youtube work?
The Screen Lock feature turns off the touch surface when watching a movie in full-screen mode. Thus, it will prevent users from accidentally shutting off the video. In addition, it will stop skipping a section of the recording or choosing an uninteresting recommendation. Users who have access to the trial features can choose this option by clicking the gear icon in the top-right corner of the screen.
Accessibility and Availability
Only some YouTube Premium users have access to the functionality. In addition, it is only compatible with Android and iOS apps. Testing will continue through July 30. Similarly, the Netflix app included a lock icon at the bottom of the screen in 2020. Additionally, it disables the play and pause controls and prevents users from unintentionally choosing subtitles.
Closing Note
YouTube is also experimenting with a number of other things, such as limiting what users can do with ad blockers. You will receive three requests to turn off these add-ons; failing to do so will prevent users from watching the movie. Additionally, the platform is setting up a section with online games that will be accessible through browsers or mobile apps.
