Be Group of Vietnam announced today that it has entered into an agreement with an electric car leasing service, making it the first ride-hailing firm in the nation to deploy EVs.
To enable drivers to convert away from combustion engine vehicles at “reasonable pricing,” Be Group, a native platform with over 10 million users, and GSM, created by the owner of Vietnamese EV company VinFast, will collaborate with Vietnam Prosperity Bank, Be Group stated in a statement.
As part of its attempts to attain carbon emission neutrality by 2050, Vietnam is encouraging the mass manufacturing and use of electric vehicles. According to Vinfast, there are currently 7,800 electric vehicles on its roadways.
Pham Nhat Vuong, the richest man in Vietnam and chairman of VinFast’s parent company Vingroup created GSM. In addition, the company plans to start offering electric vehicle and motorcycle leasing services in April.

The announcement added that as part of its partnership with Be Group, a direct investment will be made in the ride-hailing company, but it did not specify how much.
