TikTok is testing a new feature that lets users design generative AI avatars. Social media expert Matt Navarra made the initial discovery of the new technology.
Currently, the company is evaluating a few specific markets and isn’t generally available. In essence, TikTok is creating a Lensa-like app within its platform with this prototype product.
According to screenshots published by Navarra, once users have access to the program, it would prompt them to choose three to ten photos to create avatars. Users can only use the tool once each day. In addition, each use will result in the creation of up to 30 avatars.
How does the new TikTok tool work?
Following uploading the photographs, users can select up to five different styles for the program to utilize when making their avatars.
Navarra observes that the program takes a few minutes to construct the AI avatars. Users can then select one or more of the AI avatars to download. They can add an avatar to their TikTok tale or post it as their profile avatar.
We’re always thinking about new ways to add value to the community and enrich the TikTok experience. As we continue to build a safe place that entertains, inspires creativity, and drives culture.
In a few select regions, we’re experimenting with a new way to create and share TikTok profile pictures with the TikTok community.
Although the styles available through TikTok’s tool are more limited than those available through Lensa. In addition, Lensa is a premium software whose results are amazing.
Closing Note
Photos that violate TikTok’s Community Guidelines cannot use to build avatars. In addition, the app’s content moderation algorithms will vet any photos posted. TikTok will destroy all photographs uploaded by users after a short period of time.

TikTok claims that the features it tests may not always make it into the final product. However, even if they do, they may look and feel different by the time they are widely released.
