For many Snapchat users, keeping up with Snap Streaks—where they send a snap to their friend once every 24 hours—is very essential. In order to capitalize on that reality, the business now gives users the option to pause their Snap streaks, ensuring that they won’t be broken if they decide to stop using the app for a while.

During this test period, Snapchat will only allow users to pause one streak for free.

The New Snapchat Feature

We’re making it simpler to take a break starting today with a new feature we’re testing to let users reignite the spark and restore one Streak for free with just one tap, the company said in a statement. A lost Snap Streak doesn’t mean your friendship has gone cold, so starting today, we’re making it easier to take a break.

Users will have “the option to add more Streak Restores directly from the app,” according to the company, and they will be priced at 99c per pause in the US. Additionally, Snap stated that it would soon give Snapchat+ users the option to freeze streaks. In essence, stripe maintenance will cost money either way.

Snapchat’s Recent Update

The social network’s paid plan received a chatbot driven by OpenAI’s GPT technology on February 2023.

Snap announced that it now has more than 750 million monthly active users and more than 2.5 million paid users during its Investor Day event in February. It also released announcements for developers and creators at the same moment. The business claimed to be introducing ray tracing technology to help developers create realistic-looking lenses. Additionally, it released tools to make it simpler for producers to incorporate authorized sounds into their snaps.
