On its “Family Center,” Snapchat has included a new “Content Controls” section. This tool will give parents a way to learn more about who their children are corresponding with on Snapchat. While still maintaining their children’s privacy.
What does the Content Controls Feature Hold?
Parents may now restrict the kind of content their children access through the app due to the new functionality. Any “unwanted” content will not appear on Stories and Spotlight. Also, parents can enable the feature by turning on the “Restrict Sensitive Material” filter in Snapchat’s Family Center.
The settings page specifically states that it won’t have an effect on Chat, Snaps, or Search and that it exclusively limits specific items on Stories and Spotlight.
However, the business stated that because Stories is not an open platform, authors and partners need to adhere to the content editorial standards.
More than 900 media partners, including NBC News, Axios, ESPN, Le Monde, and People, are among Snapchat’s partners that appear on Stories.
On the other side, Spotlight is a platform for amusement where users can locate other Snapchat users and view their material.
Content Controls Guidelines are now Publicly Available:
To help producers understand what kind of content can fall into the “sensitive” category, Snapchat has made its content standards public for the first time. According to Snapchat, these rules set forth:
According to the Community Guidelines, forbidden content;
Which material qualifies for recommendations on Stories or Spotlight, so gaining more exposure;
What types of content are deemed sensitive?
Therefore subject to the new Content Controls?
“These rules have always been communicated to Snap Stars and our media partners. We want to provide greater transparency into the stricter standards we establish for information destined for the public by making our full content guidelines available for anybody to read, the business stated.
Snapchat unveiled a parental control panel last year. The business also pledged to provide new features to aid parents in protecting their children.
It still imposes many restrictions even though it doesn’t allow parents to have really severe guidelines or control how their teens use social media.
The business provided more details about My AI as it wrapped up the post. The team is striving to bring more tools to the Family Center surrounding My AI, so more functions will soon be available. Parents will now have more visibility and control over how their teenagers use My AI.
