Samsung introduces an innovative feature for its SmartThings platform. In addition, it offers users a virtual 3D map of their home. Additionally, it has seamless control over connected devices such as lights, thermostats, and appliances.
Global Availability of 3D Map View
Debuting at CES 2024, the 3D Map View is now accessible in all countries with SmartThings availability. This advancement aims to streamline the management of the increasing array of smart home devices. Thus, it presents them with an interactive 3D representation of the user’s floor plan.
Samsung Utilizing Advanced Technology for Accurate Mapping
In contrast to the previous 2D iteration, the new 3D Map View utilizes spatial AI and LiDAR sensors in Samsung devices like the Bespoke Jet Bot to accurately map a home’s layout. This allows users to gain a comprehensive understanding of their home’s shape and layout within the SmartThings app.
Enhanced Control and Personalization by Samsung
The enhanced Map View incorporates improved filtering capabilities to efficiently monitor and control specific devices. Samsung also plans to introduce AI characters, unveiled at CES, by the end of the year. In addition, it will provide users with a more personalized smart home experience.
Global Rollout and Future Expansion
Initially launched in Korea and the US. However, the global rollout of Map View now enables SmartThings users worldwide to benefit from the new 3D mapping capabilities. Additionally, Samsung is working in collaboration with construction companies to expand Map View to apartments and offices. Further, the company will develop optimized large-screen UX for commercial applications.
