Chinese Tech Company Oppo released a mixed reality headset at the 2023 Augmented World Expo (AWE) in California. With this edition, developers can practice building original applications on Oppo MR Glass. In addition, they can learn the best ways to use XR technology.
Following smartphones, Oppo sees these headsets as the next generation of computing platforms. The firm has been developing AR glasses for a number of years. In addition, the most recent model, Oppo Air Glass 2. Additionally, it resembles regular glasses. The company released it last year.
Qualcomm is involved in the creation and promotion of the new model. It relies on the Snapdragon XR2 Plus architecture. In addition, it includes heart rate recording. Additionally, it has the company’s own SUPERVOOC rapid charging technology.
About the headset of Oppo
The headset consists of skin-friendly material. In addition, it utilizes Binocular VPT (Video Pass Through) technology. Additionally, it has small “pancake” lenses. Further, it supports a refresh rate of 120 Hz.
It also provides a “through” vision of reality using two color cameras. The MR Glass Developer Edition headgear is larger than standard glasses. Additionally, it includes a “ring” controller similar to those available with Meta.
The Chinese corporation acknowledges that there is still much work on the technology. Although it has a lot of potential, it might take some time before it gets available.
Due to this, the company is attempting to draw developers’ attention so they may produce software that will help spread the word about mixed reality. According to reports, there are currently no plans to commercialize the technology in the near future. However, the company anticipates that eventually, customers will really wear the corresponding headsets all day.
Mixed Reality Headset in Not New!
Similar solutions are also of interest to other businesses. In addition, several of them are already working on their goods.
