Opera will launch its overhauled Opera One browser on iOS. In addition, it is transitioning from the beta phase to a stable release. The updated browser boasts a conveniently positioned bottom search bar, swift search suggestions during typing, and seamless integration with the Aria AI assistant.
Customizable Search Bar and Enhanced Autocomplete
Users can tailor the default bottom-placed search bar to their preference, with options for Standard Navigation or Fast Action Button style. Additionally, users can easily access the search bar by swiping down, akin to the functionality of Spotlight search on iOS. Opera has also introduced autocomplete options in chipsets below the search box to expedite the search process.
Subtle Design Enhancements and Newsfeed Replacement
The company has implemented subtle design tweaks to optimize the browsing experience. While scrolling on a page, the browser conceals the bottom and top bars for a full-screen view. Additionally, the color of the top status bar synchronizes with the site theme. Furthermore, Opera has replaced the old newsfeed with a new carousel view featuring personalized news, live scores, and product tips.
Opera Aria AI Assistant Integration
The company launched Aria, the highly anticipated AI-powered assistant, in May 2023. Additionally, it was available on the iOS version in August 2023. With the release of Opera One, Aria now encompasses voice input and image generation capabilities, further enriching the user experience.

Opera Browser’s Performance and Market Trends
Sensor Tower, an app analytics firm, reported that the Opera browser has garnered over 50 million downloads on iOS since 2020. However, the browser’s year-on-year growth has decelerated, with download increases of 58%, 25%, and 4% for 2021, 2022, and 2023, respectively. Notably, the European Union (EU) stands as Opera’s primary market. In addition, the regulatory changes compelling iOS to present a browser choice screen to users resulted in a substantial 122% surge in downloads during Q2 2024.
