Greg Gianforte, the Governor of Montana, has formally outlawed TikTok in his state. On Wednesday, the Governor enacted the restriction.

The Need for TikTok Ban in Montana

After months of deliberation, the government made this choice as to whether they should ban TikTok in the United States. The Committee on Foreign Investment in the U.S. (CFIUS) threatened parent company ByteDance with a ban in March unless it sold its shares in TikTok.

In the same month, TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew went before Congress, responding to inquiries about the app’s age verification and data storage practices.

Montana has outlawed TikTok, according to Governor Gianforte, in order to protect users’ private information from the Chinese Communist Party. In addition, it may use it for political purposes.
