Microsoft announced that Outlook is receiving an exciting new feature. In addition, it will enable users to harness generative AI to create personalized themes based on their preferences.
Microsoft AI-Driven Personalization
The new AI-powered themes are available for those with a Copilot Pro consumer subscription and business accounts with Copilot activated. Users can access this feature across multiple platforms, including iOS, Android, Windows, Mac, and the web.
With Themes by Copilot, users can craft a theme inspired by over 100 locations or even design one based on their own geographical setting. Users have the flexibility to choose how frequently their theme updates—whether every few hours, daily, weekly, or monthly.
Once the app generates the theme, users can select from various artistic styles, including realistic, oil painting, or cartoon.
Dynamic Location and Weather Themes
“If you’ve enabled location permissions in Outlook, the My Location theme will bring you imagery uniquely inspired by your locale. Additionally, it will dynamically update for you as you head out the door on a trip or vacation,” Microsoft noted in their blog post. “Similarly, the company has updated a dynamic theme based on the weather to reflect the current weather conditions where you are.”
Users can access these AI-generated themes through Outlook’s Appearance Settings. Thus, it allows for a personalized touch akin to decorating a workspace with artwork or candles.
Creative Freedom in Email
This new AI capability may not introduce additional functionality. However, it offers a fun and creative way to personalize the email experience. In the race to enhance productivity features, both Microsoft and Google have been integrating AI into their email services. However, Gmail lacks AI themes, giving Outlook users a unique advantage in creative expression.
Expanding AI Features Across Microsoft Apps
The announcement follows Microsoft’s recent introduction of AI-powered features in Notepad and Paint. Windows Insiders can now utilize a “Rewrite” tool. In addition, it helps with rephrasing sentences, adjusting tone, and modifying content length using AI assistance.
In Paint, Windows Insiders will gain access to new AI image editing tools. Additionally, it includes a Generative fill feature for making edits and additions via text prompts and a Generative erase feature to remove unwanted objects from the artwork.
