As it seeks to develop its circularity practices, the sportswear giant Lululemon has announced a new multi-year partnership with the textile-to-textile recycling business Samsara Eco.
The company claimed that it hopes to use the startup’s circular manufacturing process. In addition, they will produce nylon and polyester that can endlessly recycle from their own products.
What will the partnership bring?
Samsara Eco can recycle high-performance nylon and polyester mixes. In addition, the company’s partners will use leftover clothing to develop new materials. Additionally, it will bring “lower-impact alternatives” to the performance garment market.
Yogendra Dandapure, vice president of raw materials innovation at Lululemon, commented on the partnership. “Nylon remains our best chance to accomplish our 2030 sustainable product targets.
This alliance shows what can accomplish by using group creativity to address unmet needs.
We are making progress toward realizing our end-to-end circularity vision by turning used clothing into high-quality nylon and polyester using Samsara Eco unique enzymatic method.
The objective of the Collaboration of Lululemon and Samsara Eco
The collaboration expands on Lululemon’s ‘Be Planet’ objectives. It will call for the company to establish a circular ecosystem by 2030, mostly by using sustainable materials. Thus, it will offer purchasing options like its re-commerce program and recycling of textiles into new textiles.
