About the Search Update of Google

Google

The leading search engine will launch a new dashboard that will alert users when site results containing their contact information appear on search. The new dashboard expands on Google’s “Results about you” tool, which debuted last year. Additionally, it will make it simple to ask for the deletion of search results that include user email, home address, or phone number. Users may easily ask Google to delete their contact information using this new dashboard.

How can a user use this feature?

Users can use this function by clicking on the image of their Google account and choosing “Results about you” in the Google app. Currently, the tool is only available in English in the United States. However, Google is aiming to make it available in more countries and languages shortly.

Google introduced protection earlier this year to prevent users from unintentionally running upon pornographic imagery on searches. With this upgrade, graphic or adult content or other explicit imagery will get blurred when it shows in search results.

Availability

This month, the new SafeSearch blurring setting will be available to all users worldwide. In addition, users are free to change their settings and turn it off whenever they choose unless a parent or network administrator at the school has locked the setting.

Google now lets users delete sexual content that they have posted. However, users may already remove non-consensual explicit imagery from search.

Closing Note

According to a blog post by Google, “We have long had policies that enable users to remove non-consensual explicit imagery from Search.” “Right now, we’re expanding on these safeguards to give users the option to remove any of their private or explicit photographs from a search that they no longer want to be displayed in search.

It is important to remember that deleting anything from Google Search does not also delete it from the internet or from other search engines. However, Google adds that it expects these modifications will provide users more control over the sensitive information that appears in Searches.
