In order to improve concentration on frequent speakers or presenters, Google Meet is introducing a new tool that allows users to pause the video streams for specific tiles.
On the web, click “Don’t watch” from the three-dot option next to a user’s name in the sidebar to disable that person’s feeds.
A new “Audio only” mode for mobile devices disables all streams other than the presenter’s feed.
If you’re on the go, the “Audio only” mode will help you conserve data.
According to Google, Meet won’t alert other users when you turn off their video streams. Additionally, their meeting experience won’t change.
Google Meet has rolled out the service. In addition, it will be available to the complete customer base in a few weeks. Thanks to the fact that admins cannot individually switch off the feature, users will always have access to it.
Google added support for emoji reactions on Meet calls earlier this year. The business introduced 360-degree virtual backgrounds for Meet on mobile in February.
