Google Meet is rolling out a new feature called ‘Take Notes for Me,’ powered by Gemini AI. In addition, it will allow users to capture notes during video calls. The company announced this update initially in September 2023. Additionally, it is now available to select Google Workspace users starting today.
Overview of the ‘Take Notes for Me’ Feature
The ‘Take Notes for Me’ feature leverages AI to automatically document meeting notes. As a result, it will make it easier to share insights with all participants. The meeting organizers will have a saved copy of the notes in Google Drive. In addition, the organizer can share with everyone included in the calendar invite within the organization. Additionally, those who join the meeting late can access the ‘Summary So Far’ feature to catch up on discussions without disrupting the meeting.
Google’s Insight on the Feature
In a recent blog post, Google highlighted the challenge of staying engaged in discussions while trying to take notes. They stated, “This is where ‘Take Notes for Me’ can help.” The feature is likely to enhance user engagement during meetings. However, it will ensure that they are available in the future by documenting important details. The notes document will also contain links to meeting recordings and transcripts if users enable these features.
This feature will enable users to be more attentive. In addition, it will involve them in their meetings. However, it will make sure that it documents all crucial information for future reference and follow-up.
