The Gemini AI chatbot now has the upgraded Gemini 1.5 Flash AI model. As a result, it will enable it to deliver faster responses and process more extensive content in prompts. According to Amar Subramanya, VP of engineering for Gemini, the 1.5 Flash upgrade brings about comprehensive improvements in quality, latency, reasoning, and image understanding. Additionally, Gemini’s context window, allows the AI model to process chunks of text at once. The company has quadrupled to 32K tokens.

The 1.5 Flash upgrade, initially announced at Google I/O in May, is now available in the free version of Gemini via web and mobile platforms. Moreover, Google has introduced related content links in Gemini for “fact-seeking prompts.” As a result, it will enable users to access factual information while researching by clicking on a gray arrow at the end of a paragraph.

Expansion and Safeguards

Google plans to gradually introduce Gemini in Google Messages to users in the European Economic Area, UK, and Switzerland. Additionally, Gemini for teens will be accessible in over 40 languages in the upcoming week.

Google Expansion of Teen-Focused Gemini Experience

In June, the company unveiled a specialized Gemini experience tailored for teenagers. As a result, it will enable students to register using their school accounts. However, this option was not universally accessible across all countries.

In the upcoming week, Google will address this limitation as Gemini becomes accessible to teenagers in all countries and regions where Gemini is typically open to adult users.

To coincide with the rollout, Google has implemented “additional policies and safeguards” to protect teens. In addition, it has a tailored onboarding process and an “AI literacy guide.” Thus, it aims to promote responsible AI usage among teens.
