Google has officially rolled out its Gemini Live feature to free users. However, it is only available for Android users. Additionally, the company is introducing 10 new voices. The company originally launched for Gemini Advanced subscribers in August. Further, this feature is now fully accessible to all English-speaking users.
Announcement from Google for Gemini
In a recent post on X, the Google Gemini App account stated, “Live is now available for all Gemini users in English on the Android app. We can’t wait for you to try it.” This marks a significant step in expanding the reach of Gemini Live.
Gemini AI Engaging Natural Conversations
Gemini Live allows users to engage in conversations that mimic natural dialogue. Users can access this feature from the bottom-right corner of the Gemini overlay or app. Once activated, the user interface expands to full screen. In addition, it features “Hold” and “End” buttons at the bottom. Notably, users can close the app. However, the Gemini Live continues to operate in the background. Thus, it will provide flexibility in usage. Users can conclude the sessions by simply saying “stop” or swiping down to access notifications.
Text Transcripts for Enhanced Interaction
A text transcript that displays both the user’s prompts and Gemini’s responses accompanies the conversations in Gemini Live. This feature enables users to restart a session. As a result, it will enhance the overall experience.
Google Future Features and Compatibility
Currently, Gemini Live does not support Gemini Extensions for accessing services like Gmail and YouTube Music through real-time chat. However, these capabilities are likely to be available in future updates. Additionally, it may include camera functionality as part of Project Astra. Moreover, Google is planning to extend Gemini Live to the iOS app in the future. Users can manually force-stop the Gemini app to trigger new updates. As a result, it will ensure they have the latest features at their fingertips.
