Apple Intelligence is Now Live in Public Betas

Apple

Apple has taken a significant step towards mainstream availability with the launch of public betas for iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1. This rollout allows users enrolled in Apple’s public beta program to experience the generative AI platform.

Apple Intelligence Availability and Limitations

Currently, Apple Intelligence is only accessible in U.S. English. Unfortunately, it remains unavailable in the EU and the People’s Republic of China due to regulatory challenges. Additionally, users in the United States can access this feature on the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and any device from the newly launched iPhone 16 lineup.

Advanced Writing Tools

Apple

The new Writing Tools leverage generative AI capabilities similar to those found in ChatGPT. Users can benefit from features such as proofreading, summarizing, and rewriting text in various styles, including professional, concise, and friendly. Additionally, the Mail app introduces Smart Reply, message prioritization, and summary features.

Apple Revamped Siri Experience

Apple

Siri has undergone a significant redesign, with changes to its on-screen presentation. The colorful Siri icon has been replaced with illuminated borders that do not obscure text. Siri is now better at understanding speech, even when users stumble over words. For those who prefer not to speak, typing commands is also an option. A new product knowledge feature allows users to ask Siri how to perform various on-device tasks, such as screen recording or resetting an AirTag.

Innovative Photo Management

Apple

In the Photos app, the new Clean Up feature serves as Apple’s response to Google’s Magic Eraser. Users can circle an object to remove it, with the tool generating a background to fill the space. Additionally, search functionality has been enhanced to support more natural language queries, and users can create Memories using text prompts.

Joining the Beta Program

To enable Apple Intelligence features, users must manually join the waitlist by navigating to Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri > Join the Apple Intelligence waitlist. Joining the public beta program is straightforward and can be done by visiting beta.apple.com.

Apple Future Developments

Apple plans to roll out additional features related to Apple Intelligence later this year. Thus, it will further enhance the capabilities of its devices.
