Kuo had previously predicted in October that Apple would refrain from releasing the Apple Watch Ultra 3 in 2024. His updated forecast suggests the company may launch the Apple Watch Ultra 3 in 2025. Furthermore, Kuo anticipates an update for the Apple Watch SE.
Expected Launch Timeline
In Kuo’s recent remarks on X (formerly Twitter), he indicated that both the Apple Watch Ultra 3 and the third-generation Apple Watch SE may debut in the third quarter of 2025. This timing corresponds with Apple’s schedule for introducing new smartwatch and smartphone models. Apple may unveil these devices alongside the highly anticipated iPhone 17 series. In addition, it will replace the newly launched iPhone 16 lineup.
Apple Development Status and Market Impact
In October 2023, Kuo noted that Apple had not initiated developing a new model to succeed the Watch Ultra 2. Similarly, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman revised his prediction before the recent event, indicating that Apple would only add a new color option for the existing Watch Ultra 2.
Kuo’s analysis suggests that if Apple does not introduce a new Apple Watch Ultra model in 2024, it could lead to a significant decline in shipments for the flagship smartwatch. As a result, it will potentially decrease by as much as 30 percent year-on-year. Additionally, the company may see an overall 10 percent drop in Apple Watch shipments.
