Previously known as Twitter, Elon Musk’s X now offers voice and video calling capabilities. These capabilities are currently exclusive to X Premium (Twitter Blue) subscribers on iOS. However, X intends to make them available to Android users shortly.
“We’re launching a new means of communication on X, Audio and Video Calling,” X stated on the platform. In addition, Android users will soon be able to use audio and video calling. However, it is currently available on iOS.”
Interestingly, calls will still come in even if the user utilizes X for free. User can adjust their Direct Messaging settings to control who can call them. Additionally, calls from individuals they follow or have in their address book will automatically be received. However, there is a requirement that both parties have sent each other at least one direct message before they can speak on the phone.
How to start a Call on X?
- Access your direct messages now.
- Select an existing chat or start a new one.
- Press the phone icon.
- Select “Video call” or “Audio call” by touching the appropriate icons.
- The person you contact will receive a notification. In addition, they will also receive a notification if they choose not to answer.
Musk stated in August that X would be able to make and receive audio and video calls. This is a step in repurposing the outdated Twitter app. Mac laptops, iPhones, Android phones, and standard PCs can all use these functions. To utilize them, the user won’t require a phone number.
