Meta to Roll Out New Broadcast Channel Feature

Meta

After releasing its “broadcast channels” function for Instagram and WhatsApp earlier this year, Meta is now expanding it to Facebook and Messenger, mimicking Telegram. The feature will be available on both platforms in the upcoming weeks.

About the New Feature of Meta

Broadcast channels are a practical tool for artists and public personalities. In addition, it can help them to communicate updates and behind-the-scenes photos with their audience. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and other officials have disseminated updates on feature and product releases through broadcast channels.

Public personalities and artists can interact directly with their fans by sending out one-to-many communications. Channels allow for text, photos, responses, surveys, and more. With broadcast channels, viewers can respond to messages and cast poll votes, but only the channel creator can send out messages.

How will it work?

Facebook Pages will soon be able to create broadcast channels due to a feature. Meta is now testing and will release the update in the coming weeks. If they have the opportunity, Facebook Page managers can launch a channel straight from their Page. They can put their name on the waitlist if it’s not yet available to them.

After setting up a broadcast channel and sending out their initial message, the followers will receive a single invitation to join. On a Facebook Page’s profile, users have the option to join broadcast channels instantly. Once they join, they will receive notifications whenever a new message comes up.

However, users can choose to ignore these notifications and remain in the channel. In order to see the full list of broadcast channels they are currently a part of, they can check their chat list.

Currently available on Facebook and Messenger are broadcast networks such as League of Legends, Netflix, WWE, and the International Cricket Committee.

Closing Note

Across Meta’s app family, broadcast channels provide creators and public personalities with a new method to inform their fans. Previously, authors would typically write a post or a narrative to inform their followers of news and updates. However, these days, authors can also interact with fans directly by using a more direct approach.

Meta

The business Meta expressed its intention to incorporate broadcast channels into all of its popular apps. However, the company initially introduced this feature on Instagram in February. While the addition of this new functionality on Facebook and Messenger might be well-received by certain users, others may have reservations.
