Twitter Unveils New API Tier

Twitter

Twitter has unveiled a new $5,000 monthly API tier for startups called Twitter API Pro. The tier grants developers access to the entire archive search endpoint. In addition, it has the ability to fetch 1 million tweets per month. Additionally, it can submit 300,000 tweets per month.

About the API Tier by Twitter

Elon Musk introduced the new pricing tiers in March. Twitter said earlier this year that it would end access to its free API tier. It has somewhat reversed that decision by giving content provider bots free access to 1,500 tweets per month.

The new tier comes between the US$ 42,000 per month enterprise tier. In addition, the basic tier costs US$ 100 per month. This new level is what Twitter refers to as being appropriate for “startups scaling their business.”

Many developers and startup owners urged that the firm may create a medium tier for startups who can’t afford to spend nearly half a million dollars per year.

The new Pro API tier will serve some of those people. However, it won’t help enterprises with limited budgets, as they still have to pay US$ 60,000 annually. For instance, the Pro tier’s new posting limit would be adequate for some bots. However, it would be difficult for the developers to monetize the service over the long term through subscriptions or donations.

Closing Note

Notably, Twitter still doesn’t have a solution for academics and researchers. The business stated that it was “looking at new ways” to assist that group in March, but the social network hasn’t yet made any declarations.

At a recent event, Musk said that Twitter was on “the comeback arc” as a result of his dramatic cost-cutting initiatives. The business hired Linda Yaccarino from NBCUniversal earlier this month to serve as CEO of both Twitter and the ambitious “everything app X.”
